Isabella Brodt embarked on a winding journey through nursing, government, and almost dying to enthusiastically reach her final destination as a screenwriter and educator. Having completed UT Austin’s prestigious screenwriting MFA program, Isabella continues to develop short and feature screenplays centered on self-discovery and the interpersonal effects of trauma while working as a middle school English teacher.
Isabella's debut feature screenplay Call Upon Landing advanced at Austin Film Festival and with the International Screenwriters’ Association Fast Track Fellowship. Her most recent short film Balada de un Inmigrante con Memoria, which she cowrote with director Sergio Muñoz Esquer, premiered at New Orleans Film Festival and was selected for the Focus Features Short Film Showcase.
